Vlisco Garden Campaign
Set Design and Prop Production IOIA
Vlisco, a celebrated name in fashion, is renowned for its rich heritage and exquisite wax prints inspired by vibrant African culture. With distinct patterns and bold colours, their fabrics embody individuality and empowerment. For their enchanting garden campaign, Vlisco partnered with a number of creatives, such as Bart Hess and one being IOIA.
IOIA is a studio renowned for their dynamic, colourful, and playful aesthetic in the field of set design and production. I had the privilege of working for them during the period of the campaign to help create props for a captivating and surreal Vlisco garden world.
Prop production 01.
In this project, I was assigned one of the exciting challenge of designing a pattern for the totems. Drawing inspiration from the beautiful floral motifs found in VLISCO fabric, I crafted a 3D pattren using over 1000 black beads and pins. My aim was to create a chic and graphically sophisticated design that seamlessly fused the essence of both IOIA and VLISCO brands. The outcome presented a unique retro style, which initially raised some uncertainties from VLISCO. However, with unwavering support from IOIA, the design was embraced, and in the end, VLISCO found it to be truly captivating and adored the final result.

In this project, I embraced the chance to merge digital and physical realms by creating dew drops in Rhino for 3D printing and acrylic casting. The endeavor proved more time-consuming than expected, but taught me the importance of setting realistic timelines and allowing ample room for creative exploration. This experience enhanced my project management skills and deepened my appreciation for the design process.
