Speculative Future

In collaboration with the Municipality of Rotterdam, we explore potential futures, fostering a strong sense of belonging within the city. Amidst a digitalised world and advancing DNA technology, our design speculates on the future of DNA testing and its ethical implications. We envision how the government could utilise DNA testing to expedite assistance, enabling faster and more efficient support for citizens by adding these pop-up DNA pods around the city.

Research and Process.

In 2045, the information age and automation disrupt 45% of global jobs, leading to increased productivity and wealth generation. To support those affected, a Universal Basic Income (UBI) is introduced, while the government leverages DNA testing to offer targeted incentives for medical care and unemployment assistance. This forward-thinking approach empowers individuals to navigate the changing work landscape with efficiency and empathy, creating a more resilient and inclusive society.

Pop-up architecture are temporary spaces used for short periods of time. The DNA facility will be located in these capsules that will be able to be set up around the city making it accessible for the public.
