Corona Monument

This Corona monument project is where data-driven design meets heartfelt tribute. Drawing inspiration from the data collected during the first wave of the coronavirus, I embarked on a journey to create a meaningful monument—a solemn memorial that honours the lives lost and pays tribute to the unwavering courage of those who risked everything to combat the virus. This whole monument can be made in every country. Each monument can be adjusted to the data collected for that specific country. So in the end you will have similar structures that are visually connected to each other, reflecting how the pandemic hit the world on a global level.

Inspiration and Process.

As I delved into the depths of the data, I realised that behind the numbers and statistics were stories of resilience, sacrifice, and hope. Guided by this profound realization and inspired by James Turrell's masterful use of colour to transform spaces, my design took shape. It sought to encapsulate the essence of these narratives into a physical embodiment of remembrance, where hues and shades would echo the emotional journey of those affected.

The structure was crafted by studying the data from graphs, allowing the sombre reality of the pandemic's impact to shape its form. With each increase in deaths or daily cases, the monument's contours adapted, poignantly reflecting the fluctuating journey of the pandemic and honouring the lives affected in an ever-evolving narrative of resilience.
